WARRANTY INFORMATION
What we stand behind
Every coating applied by an accredited SealX applicator comes with a warranty.
Different surfaces get different terms — that's not us hedging, it's fifteen years of knowing what holds up where.
- New or near-new car paint .................... 5 years
- Older or faded car paint ......................... 3 years
- New painted steel motorhome ............. 3 years
- New fibreglass or gelcoat motorhome / caravan ........................................................ 2 years
- Faded or older motorhome / caravan..... 1 year
- Yachts and power boats ........................... 1 year
- Aircraft ........................................................ 1 year
Warranties are transferable to a new owner, provided SealX wash products are used.
The warranty covers work carried out by an accredited SealX applicator. Product bought for self-application isn't covered — the coating is the same, but we can't warrant a job we didn't do. Full preparation is what makes a coating last, and that's what our applicators are trained in.
And it can be topped up
This is the part that sets SealX apart from a ceramic coating, and it's worth understanding before you choose one.
A ceramic reaches the end of its life and that's it — to renew it, the old coating has to be machine polished off and the whole job done again from scratch.
SealX doesn't work like that. When it's ready for a refresh, we clean it down and lay a fresh coat straight over the top. No stripping back, no starting again. A top-up runs at around half the cost of the original job.
So it isn't a coating that runs out. It's a coating you keep going.
On motorhomes and caravans we typically see two to three years before a top-up is worthwhile. We'll check it over free once a year and let you know where it's at.
Independently tested
SealX was put through accelerated UV weathering testing at Dulux Laboratories' Technical & Innovation Laboratory in Auckland, alongside two other surface treatments and untreated control panels.
After testing, SealX was the only product still repelling water on fibreglass, automotive paint and sail film.
The untreated fibreglass panel began surface cracking within 24 hours of exposure.
None of the treated panels cracked.
Approved for areospace
Tested and approved to aerospace standards by Airbus and Boeing, and used on aircraft and helicopters.
MPI approved
Approved by the Ministry for Primary Industries for use in food processing premises.
Fifteen years on the road, and on the water
The strongest evidence isn't in a laboratory. Some of our applicators have been using SealX in their own businesses for over ten years — independent operators who could use anything on the market. Barefoot Sailing Adventures have run it on their commercial charter catamarans for over a decade, full time, in saltwater. And a steady number of customers buy it to apply themselves, then come back and buy it again.
Nobody reorders something that didn't work.
